The Raspberry Pi is the most popular minicomputer worldwide and also in Germany. Almost one in two people who realize electronics projects privately or professionally have already used it. This is the result of a representative survey by Reichelt Elektronik.
More than one in three people use the Raspberry Pi as a computer for everyday use. But the minicomputer is also frequently used as a printer server (23%) or multimedia center (20%). One area of application with numerous possible uses is controlling one's own smart home: according to the survey, almost a third of all projects (29%) relate to home automation control systems. One in five (21%) use the mini-computer to control lights or heating, but the Raspberry Pi is also used for automatic shutters and/or door opening (18%). Other areas of application include controlling alarm and/or video installations (15%) and other projects such as smoke detectors (13%).
