Kontron
DIN rail box with Raspberry Pi
The box contains the industrial-grade computer modules and Kontron guarantees an astonishingly long availability.
With the 'KBox A-330-RPI',Kontron presents a computer for cost-sensitive control and gateway applications. The 'KBox A-330-RPI' is based on the long-term available Raspberry Pi Compute Module CM3+ and can therefore use the huge software pool of the Raspberry Pi community. The system with the four Cortex-A53 cores is compatible with the Raspberry Pi 3B+ and has been enhanced with industrial features. These include a second Ethernet interface and a serial port that can also be configured as a CAN bus. Kontron guarantees an availability of at least eightyears for the 'KBox A-330-RPI'.
Kontron also offers a board with the i.MX6 dual-core processor from NXP in the same housing under the name 'KBox A-330-MX6'. In addition, the variant based on the NXP processor also offers optional industrial protocol stacks such as Ethercat, Profinet, Modbus and Canopen to enable customers to easily integrate control software.
Both variants are fanless and are designed for industrial control and gateway tasks in control cabinets thanks to their slim design and the option of DIN rail mounting.
Kontron supports Yocto Linux as the operating system for the 'KBox A-330-MX6' and Raspbian for the 'KBox A-330-RPI'. On a project basis, applications are possible that include advanced security features such as secure authentication and data encryption that go beyond the normal security requirements.
