Platform defies harsh environments
The Ruggedcom APE1808 is part of the 'Ruggedcom RX15xx' product family, which includes rugged Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches and routers. The modular platform with field-replaceable modules offers a choice of WAN, serial and Ethernet options.
It is suitable for power generation and distribution as well as for railroad applications and transportation technology. As a module, the 'Rugged-com APE1808' from Siemens can be plugged directly into any device of the 'Ruggedcom RX 1500' multiservice platform and thus fully utilize the platform's integrated switching and routing capabilities.The module provides a Gigabit Ethernet connection at the front of the device and another equivalent but completely separate connection to the backplane of the 'RX15xx'. 'Ruggedcom APE' is optionally available with a protective coating and operates at ambient temperatures from -40 to +75 °C. Based on Intel Quad Core, 64-bit architecture with support for Linux and Windows 10, the 'Ruggedcom APE1808' provides a standards-based platform for commercially available software, enabling partnerships in cybersecurity. It offers advantages for applications such as firewalls, analysis software for network load and logs or sensors for intrusion detection systems. It can analyze data directly at the source.
