PI starts encoder certification
To ensure that everything runs smoothly in drive technology, clean interfaces are required between all parties involved. With this in mind, Profibus & Profinet International (PI) has now launched the certification of products with an encoder profile for Profinet.
The encoder profile belongs to the class of application profiles and, together with the Profidrive profile, defines standardized interoperable application interfaces for the various application fields of drive technology and motion control based on Profinet and Profibus. The Profidrive profile tester is used for the encoder certification test to ensure a fully automated process and automatic evaluation of the test cases. A special set of test scripts has been developed for encoder certification, which is available with the latest version of the Profiltester and controls the test sequence and test evaluation for encoder devices in the test system.
