New digital ministry to bundle technologies
According to Infrastructure Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU), a new Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs should focus on key technologies after the election.
This includes the expansion of gigabit networks, industry, mobility and construction 4.0, artificial intelligence and the promotion of start-ups, according to a strategy paper from the ministry. Among other things, the new department should also send 'digital ambassadors' to IT industry centers such as Silicon Valley in the US or Asia in order to achieve stronger networking with the German economy.
