Network diagnostics
HMS Networks makes a purchase
HMS Industrial Networks, a wholly owned subsidiary of HMS Networks, has acquired 70% of all shares in the Dutch company Procentec, based in Rotterdam.
Procentec is a provider of solutions and services for the diagnosis and monitoring of industrial networks. Procentec's offering ensures a reliable network infrastructure for industrial networks such as Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP and other industrial Ethernet standards. The portfolio includes ProfiTrace, ProfiHub, ComBricks, Atlas and Osiris, which enable field technicians to easily perform network monitoring, analysis and troubleshooting - both on-site and remotely.
"Procentec fills a gap in HMS's offering within the communications infrastructure. Industrial networks are crucial in industrial processes, and Procentec's products and services significantly improve uptime and data availability in these critical networks," says Staffan Dahlström, CEO of HMS Networks. With Procentec, HMS gains access to an aftermarket business related to the installed base of industrial networks worldwide, positioning the company closer to the end users of industrial networks. "This is a very interesting new dimension for HMS given the fact that today we mainly supply products to equipment manufacturers and machine builders," explains Dahlström.
"The size and international presence of HMS will be a great advantage for Procentec as we continue to expand," says Pieter Barendrecht, CEO of Procentec B.V. There will be excellent opportunities for IP exchange between the companies as well as for the joint development of solutions related to industrial networks and Industry 4.0, he added.
The 70% stake in Procentec was acquired by HMS from the founders, who are no longer active in the company. The remaining 30% is owned by the existing management team, who will retain their management positions and continue to run the Procentec business.
With around 70 employees and subsidiaries in Germany, Italy and the UK, the Procentec Group achieved consolidated sales of EUR 11.7 million in 2019.
