The 'Future Work Lab' sees itself as an ideas factory and innovation laboratory for work, people and technology. Here, "together with the University of Stuttgart, we will show what the industrial work of the future could look like, what this means for people and how new technologies can be implemented in practice," said Prof. Dr. Reimund Neugebauer, President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, at the opening. With tangible demonstrators, offers for skills development and further training as well as a platform for scientific exchange, the 'Future Work Lab' is aimed at industry, trade unions, politics and science - and most importantly at the production workers of today and tomorrow. Various tours provided an insight into the innovation lab at the beginning of February 2017.

The 'Future Work Lab' was created under the direction of the Fraunhofer IAO (Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering) on the Fraunhofer campus in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. In May 2017, it will move to the 'ArenaA2036' research campus in the neighborhood. The Fraunhofer Institutes IAO, IPA (Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation), the Institute for Human Factors and Technology Management IAT and the Institute for Industrial Manufacturing and Factory Operation IFF at the University of Stuttgart are pooling their expertise in the field of Industry 4.0.
