Industry 4.0 platform
Cooperation with France and Italy
The Industry 4.0 initiatives from Germany, France and Italy are working together to strengthen and support digitalization processes. They are focusing on three core topics.
The 'Plattform Industrie 4.0', 'Alliance Industrie du Futur' and 'Piano Industria 4.0' held initial cooperation talks at the high-level conference 'Digitizing Manufacturing in the G20' in Berlin in March 2017. Since then, the initiatives have developed a joint action plan. On June 20, the plan was adopted by the board of the cooperation at its first meeting in Turin, Italy. Experts from industry, science and politics from all three countries will now work on three core topics that are of interest to all participants. The first results of the new trilateral cooperation are expected to be presented in the first half of next year.

News from the Industry 4.0 platform
As part of the National IT Summit in Saarbrücken, the Industry 4.0 platform presented the results of its work: in addition to progress in standardization and a change in personnel, there is new support - especially for SMEs.
Core topics of the cooperation
The trilateral cooperation focuses on three core topics, which are dealt with in the following three working groups:
1. standardization and reference architecture models
Common standards are essential for a digitized industry. Therefore, the first working group will identify relevant standards, coordinate standardization efforts, work on the harmonization of an administration shell and find ways to integrate SMEs in the field of standardization.
2. SME involvement and testbeds
To make digitalization more accessible to SMEs, the second working group will collect and link use cases from all three countries, disseminate and complete Industry 4.0 scenarios, and promote an international network of test infrastructures.
3. political support
Industry needs favourable framework conditions in order to benefit efficiently from digitalization. The working group will therefore exchange best practices from political regulations and programs from various areas and levels and coordinate joint positions of the three countries at European level as well as international forums.
