Commercial license for OPC UA .NET Standard Stack

In June 2016, the OPC UA .NET standard stack developed by Microsoft was made available as an open source project on GitHub. Softing is now planning to offer a commercial license for this stack from the fourth quarter of 2017.

OPC UA is an interoperability standard for industrial communication developed by the OPC Foundation.

The OPC UA .NET Standard Stack targets the .NET Standard Library. .NET Standard enables the development of apps that run on all common platforms available today without the need for platform-specific modifications. Cloud applications and services are also supported. In addition, the .Net Standard Stack adds security features and supports cloud applications and services.

Softing 's goal is to make the stack generally available for commercial use with the planned license. Preparatory work and technical coordination with the OPC Foundation and Microsoft are already underway. This will not affect support for the currently available Softing OPC UA .NET Toolkit.

As in the past, Softing will continue to develop and maintain the OPC UA reference implementations, providing a solid foundation for the OPC community."
