5G module production entirely in Europe

Kontron has announced that it will manufacture its 5G modules entirely in Europe in future. In doing so, the company wants to underline its commitment to shorter supply chains, Europe's technological sovereignty and the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Kontron is the only provider in the world to develop and produce 5G modules entirely in Europe. Among other things, this strategy is intended to sustainably promote the technological independence of Europe as a business location and contribute to the stability of supply chains. It will also create additional jobs in Europe.

The 5G modules are being developed entirely in Berlin. At a time when the origin and security of technologies are becoming increasingly important, in-house production in Europe also ensures compliance with the strictest European regulations, according to the company.

CEO Hannes Niederhauser emphasizes: "Local development and production offer numerous advantages. Our customers benefit from the quality, speed, flexibility and reliability that our European production of 5G modules guarantees. Our initiative has met with a great response. We have already won several major orders that are based not least on this value creation strategy."

Around 80 percent of the Kontron Group's total value creation already takes place in Europe. The close integration of development and production in Europe is a central aspect of the corporate strategy.
