IDS Imaging Development Systems
The future with AI and new hardware platforms
Although the poor economic outlook and rising energy prices cloud the prospects for 2023, IDS Imaging Development Systems is optimistic about the coming year.
According to the industrial camera manufacturer, incoming orders are still good and the signals are increasingly green in terms of delivery capability thanks to numerous measures. "We are working flat out to develop and manufacture new hardware platforms with predictable semiconductor technology," explains IDS Managing Director Jan Hartmann. The company's adaptability is essential: "It gave us a pleasing business performance in the second half of 2022, not least due to the success of our uEye cameras with the newly developed USB3 technology platform." Further models with this hardware technology will follow in 2023 to make the company even more supplier-independent and counteract possible component bottlenecks. At the same time, IDS is planning to expand its product portfolio: In addition to models with high data rates and faster and larger sensors, the entry-level segment in particular is to be significantly strengthened. In addition, the 3D segment continues to offer exciting potential and will be expanded.
"We support our customers in finding a solution more quickly and easily with the help of the 'Easy to Use' IDS ecosystem, which IDS will focus on in 2023," explains IDS CEO Alexander Lewinsky. In the industrial camera sector, the usability of the in-house software package is a priority. However, the industrial camera manufacturer will also increasingly drive forward the trending topic of artificial intelligence. "IDS wants to make it even easier for users to access this key technology, remove supposed barriers to entry and help to initiate urgently needed automation processes with easy-to-use image processing components," emphasizes IDS founder and owner Jürgen Hartmann. The opportunities offered by such solutions are enormous and are associated with completely new fields of application, such as traffic and smart cities or the environment and smart farming. "With visionpier - a marketplace for image processing solutions with and without AI - we offer direct access," adds Hartmann.
Sustainability will also be at the top of the agenda in the coming year. Among other things, IDS wants to reduce CO2 emissions by a further 5%. In the future, the company wants to be completely self-sufficient in terms of power supply, explains Jan Hartmann.
