Balance of the Vision 2022 trade fair

More exhibitors and visitors than in 2021

The Vision 2022 machine vision trade fair recorded significant growth compared to the previous year: while around 300 exhibitors and a good 5,400 visitors were represented back then, this year's attendance rose to 378 exhibitors and 6,6505 visitors.

"Vision 2022 was a complete success and far exceeded our expectations - both in terms of visitors and exhibitors," commented Roland Bleinroth, Managing Director of Messe Stuttgart. "It is also good to see that the event was able to record higher international participation again after the pandemic-related restrictions of the previous year. This means that Vision is once again developing in the direction of familiar structures, even in the context of changed information procurement."

In total, visitors from around 60 countries attended Vision. The countries most strongly represented were Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Belgium, Poland, Spain and the UK. The trade fair also once again registered a larger trade audience from South Korea, Japan and the USA. Of the total of 378 exhibiting companies, 60 percent came from abroad.

In addition to the classic user industries such as electrical engineering/electronics, mechanical and plant engineering as well as the automotive and automotive supply industry, a significant proportion of visitors from non-industrial sectors were also on site - including medical technology and the pharmaceutical industry, the agricultural industry, aerospace as well as transportation and logistics. Accordingly, the interest in non-industrial applications also increased compared to the previous year. Turnkey machine vision systems also recorded an increase in visitor interest. 55% of visitors stated that they play a decisive or co-decisive role in purchasing and procurement decisions in their company. 27 percent came to the trade fair with firm investment or purchasing intentions.

Vision Start-up World on course for growth

A total of 20 young companies were able to present themselves at Vision Start-up World. One Start-up of the Day was chosen in each of the daily start-up pitch sessions, of which Visometry from Darmstadt emerged as Vision Start-up 2022 on the last day of the trade fair. The company impressed the jury with its "digital twin" approach to recognizing and tracking components using their 3D CAD data. This enables quality engineers to carry out a target/actual analysis in order to detect production errors as early as possible in the assembly process.
