Intelligent industrial camera with 4K streaming

IDS is launching a new 'IDS NXT malibu' camera on the market. It enables AI-based image processing, video compression and streaming in 4K sensor resolution at 30 fps - directly in and out of the camera.

The 8 MP IMX678 sensor is part of Sony's Starvis 2 series and ensures high image quality even in low light conditions and twilight. The industrial camera can independently perform AI-based image analysis and output this as a live overlay in compressed video streams via RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol). Hidden inside is a special SoC (system-on-a-chip) from Ambarella, which is known from action cameras. An ISP with automatic functions such as brightness, noise and color correction ensures that optimum image quality is always achieved.
To coincide with the market launch of this model, IDS has published a new software release that also allows users to play back live images from the camera models as an MJPEG-compressed HTTP stream. This enables visualization in any web browser without additional software or plug-ins.
