Capture 3D scenarios with millimeter precision

Framos has added Intel's first lidar device, the L515 depth camera, to its product range. According to the supplier, the L515 is the world's smallest and most energy-efficient solid-state lidar depth camera with XGA resolution and a detection range of 0.25 m to 9 m.

It generates 30 images per second with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and a field of view of 70° x 55° (±2°), capturing 23 million points with associated depth information. The pixel exposure time of less than 100 ns minimizes motion blur artefacts even with fast-moving objects. The millimeter accuracy is maintained throughout the entire service life of the depth camera, even without calibration.

Due to its power consumption of <3.5 W, the tiny LiDAR depth camera is predestined for portable devices. According to Framos, it weighs around 100 g and has a diameter of 61 mm and a height of 26 mm. This simplifies integration into mobile devices, such as portable scanners for volume measurements.
