Dassault Systèmes wants to map electromagnetics
Dassault Systèmes wants to expand its '3DExperience Platform' to include the simulation of electromagnetic influences - and is taking over the company CST for this purpose.
On July 21, Dassault Systèmes announced the signing of an agreement to acquire CST - Computer Simulation Technology for nearly 220 million euros. With the acquisition of the company based near Frankfurt, Dassault Systèmes aims to complement its '3DExperience Platform' with the full spectrum of electromagnetic simulation.
The 'CST Studio Suite Software' is used by designers and engineers to evaluate electromagnetic influences through all phases of the development of electronic systems. CST's turnover in 2015 amounted to around 47 million euros."Electromagnetism is an essential part of a multiphysics simulation strategy in the development of smart and connected products and devices for the Internet of Things - from their complex design to ensuring the performance, reliability and safety of their interactions with their immediate environment," says Bernard Charlès, Vice Chairman and CEO of Dassault Systèmes.
The purchase price of CST will be paid in cash. The closing of the transaction is subject to customary conditions precedent, including the approval of the antitrust authorities in Germany and Austria. Closing is expected in the fourth quarter of 2016.
