Energy-efficient refurbishment
Expert help for the manufacturing industry
Non-residential buildings, including many industrial production facilities, only account for around 15 % of the real estate stock. However, they are responsible for a third of building energy requirements. dena has now published an expert list for the energy-efficient refurbishment of these buildings.
The energy consumption of non-residential buildings - factory halls or office buildings - has long been the focus of political attention: since July 2015, KfW Bankengruppe has therefore been promoting the energy-efficient refurbishment and new construction of commercially used non-residential buildings. The KfW programs 276, 277 and 278 support energy-saving measures in the industrial, commercial and service sectors. For production facilities from all sectors, state funding is therefore available for the construction of new energy-optimized factories, including all workshops, warehouses and office buildings. The same applies to refurbishment measures in existing buildings that reduce the building's energy requirements.
With this in mind, the German Energy Agency (dena ) has added a list of experts for non-residential buildings to the existing nationwide list of energy efficiency experts for state funding programs. This means that every entrepreneur in the manufacturing industry can now quickly and easily find experts for energy-saving construction and refurbishment. The agency emphasizes that competent contacts are particularly important for production facilities. This is because: "When refurbishing them, it is very important to take a holistic view of the entire building complex. It is important to consider not only the building envelope, but also the plant technology in order to develop an individually tailored concept.
In 2011, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control and KfW decided to list qualified energy efficiency experts in a standardized national database. The reason for this is to ensure the quality of subsidized energy consultations and energy-efficient new construction or refurbishment measures. The list will be compiled and maintained by dena.
