Phoenix Contact shows CCSplus

Charging electric vehicles with 350,000 W

Phoenix Contact has presented the CCSplus fast charging system for electric vehicles, which will enable charging times of three to five minutes for 100 km in the future.

The fast-charging system is based on the European and US CCS charging standard. This system already enables significantly shorter charging times compared to conventional AC charging.

However, mobility suitable for everyday use requires ranges of around 600 km with charging times of well under 30 minutes. To achieve this, the CCS charging system from Phoenix Contact has been supplemented by an innovative cooling system integrated into the charging station. Intelligent control of the cooling system ensures that the cooling is only switched on when required.

With this system, electric cars worldwide can be charged safely and quickly at higher charging currents. The expansion of the CCS charging system is being carried out in close cooperation and coordination with the international automotive industry and international DC charging station manufacturers. This ensures compatibility with the established CCS charging standard, as well as guaranteeing all applicable safety standards. The charging system thus paves the way for easy fast charging of electric vehicles that is suitable for everyday use.
