Connection technology
Lapp Group acquires
The Lapp Group, a provider of integrated solutions in cable and connection technology, has acquired two companies: Ceam Cavi Speciali and Fender Cables. The Stuttgart-based company intends to strengthen its position in the field of data transmission, among other things.
According to Lapp, Ceam Cavi Speciali is one of the leading European manufacturers of data cables for industrial Ethernet and fieldbus. "Lapp is thus acquiring additional expertise and production capacity in these fast-growing markets," says Andreas Lapp, CEO of Lapp Holding. Georg Stawowy, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer of Lapp Holding, adds: "With this acquisition, we are strengthening our successful brand products 'Unitronic' and 'Etherline'."
S.C. Fender Cables, with its 20 employees, specializes in cables for alarm and fire protection systems. The company is based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Both companies previously belonged to Cofima Holding, owned by the two founders Franco and Carlo Magon. The takeover of both companies came into effect on October 13, 2016. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
Ceam achieved a turnover of 23 million euros in 2015, Fender a turnover of around 3.5 million euros.
Competence center in Monselice
Lapp will continue to operate and strengthen both production sites. Monselice is to become the Lapp Group's competence center for industrial data transmission technology with research and development as well as a test center. Among other things, solutions for fast and flexible data transmission for Industry 4.0 are to be driven forward there.+
The Lapp Group was founded in 1959 and is wholly family-owned. In the 2014/15 financial year, it generated consolidated sales of 886 million euros. Lapp employs around 3,300 people worldwide, has 17 production sites and more than 39 international sales companies and works with partner companies in a further 100 countries.
