Draw-wire sensor for energy chains

Igus offers users the "i.Sense-EC.B" system with a new cable tension sensor for monitoring the condition of chains over 35 m in length. This allows potential chain breakages to be detected even over very long travel distances.

Due to the extension of the measuring range from 80 to 999 mm, the second sensor on the fixed point side is no longer required. If a break is detected, the sensor immediately triggers a message and the evaluation module sends a signal to the system's control unit. Two sensors can be connected to the i.Sense GEN II evaluation module from Igus, for example for counter-rotating systems.

When connected to the digital I/O ports of the control unit, a quick system stop can be triggered. The draw-wire sensor is compatible with all EC.B systems and i.Sense modules supplied to date and can be integrated into IIoT concepts. In addition to the longer measuring distance, the draw-wire sensor is also highly weather-resistant, making it suitable for outdoor applications.
