Dieter Bellé steps down prematurely

Automotive supplier Leonie has to look for a new boss. CEO Dieter Bellé will end his term of office in January 2018. No successor has yet been appointed.

Dieter Bellé has been CEO of Leonie since 2015. He would like to step down at the end of January 2018.

In agreement with the Supervisory Board, Dieter Bellé will step down as a member and Chairman of the Management Board on January 31, 2018. The 61-year-old has been CEO since 2015.

"The last few years have involved considerable effort, especially for him personally. They have cost him a lot of strength," press spokesman Sven Schmidt told the German Press Agency. Leoni is facing major challenges due to digitalization, among other things. "A new CEO can drive and steer this new era in the long term," said Klaus Probst, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The Supervisory Board intends to appoint a successor in the short term, the press release continued.

With over 80,000 employees worldwide, Leoni manufactures complete wiring harnesses for the automotive industry in addition to cables for industry. The company had recently announced its intention to benefit greatly from the expected stronger global demand for electric cars.
