Board-to-cable systems

The Y-Lock series is a board-to-cable system and, based on the non-ZIF principle, offers a locking mechanism that works without opening or closing a flap or drawer and without operating an unlocking mechanism.

Version 1 is locked by means of latching hooks on the connector housing, which latch behind the supporting tape of the FFC/FPC. Version 2 retains the positive characteristics of version 1, but offers new features: An additional plastic stiffener is mechanically assembled with the FFC. The stiffener is then used to lock into place with the connector. This makes guiding the FFC and inserting the FFC into the connector more convenient.
Furthermore, the pull-out forces of the FFC increase from approx. 10 N to approx. 25 N. For even better contact reliability in critical applications, version 3 is equipped with additional locking in the form of side and front latching hooks. Otherwise, it is identical to version 2.

The design of the three versions has been specially adapted by Yamaichi for areas of use that are subject to increased requirements, such as in automotive or industrial applications.
