Variable frequency inverter with Active Front End

The Emotron 'Slim-LC' AFE frequency converter uses liquid cooling technology and PEBB (Power Electronic Building Block) modules, enabling higher performance with high reliability and redundancy, according to the manufacturer.

With an overall efficiency of 97% and a THDi of <5%, the frequency inverter is particularly suitable for applications in the marine, energy and renewable energy sectors where space is limited and harmonics must be kept to a minimum. All Emotron frequency inverters for power ratings from 200 kW consist of one or more PEBB modules. These modules are suitable for 400 V and 365 A, which corresponds to an electrical output of 200 kW. The 690 V modules work with 250 A or 250 kW electrical power. Several of these PEBB modules can be connected together, making outputs of up to 4 MW possible. The PEBBs are intelligent, self-monitoring and interchangeable. The new liquid-cooled PEBB modules have a 100 % higher power density. In addition, PEBBs are mounted directly in the cabinet without a frame, which saves space and material costs. A closed liquid cooling system with a water/water heat exchanger is supplied as standard for cooling the PEBB modules. The frequency inverter is available in two versions: as a frequency inverter with low harmonics (FDUL) and as a regenerative frequency inverter (VFXR).
