Roland Bent is Chairman of the standardization organization DKE German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies in DIN and VDE (VDE|DKE), which is supported by VDE, and CTO (Chief Technology Officer) of Phoenix Contact. He was already Deputy Chairman of Working Group 4 "Standardization, Standardization and Certification" in the "National Platform for Electromobility" (NPE). In this role, Bent was involved in the national and international design of a standards and standardization framework for the market ramp-up of electromobility.

Now that Bent has taken over the chairmanship of NPM Working Group 6, the original activities of the former Working Group 4 will be continued. The focus is also on new topics such as "Connected driving", "Automated driving" and "Intermodal mobility concepts". Working Group 6 will also address standardization and certification requirements, define standardization strategies and roadmaps, monitor the corresponding implementation and promote international coordination in this regard. The standardization organizations involved are brought together in the working group alongside political, consumer, scientific and business representatives. They work closely together to ensure the future success of sustainable mobility at national, European and international level. An internationally coordinated framework of norms and standards is an essential prerequisite for this.

Under the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Transport, the new National Platform "Future of Mobility" aims to develop cross-modal solutions for sustainable, affordable and climate-friendly mobility and to promote their implementation. At the same time, it aims to ensure the competitiveness of German industry.
