Prof. Dr. Peter Hofmann becomes new CTO

The search has come to an end: as of November 1, the Augsburg-based Kuka Group has a new Chief Technology and Development Officer, Prof. Dr. Peter Hofmann.

Peter Hofmann was born in Tuttlingen, Baden-Württemberg, in 1964.

With the expansion of the Executive Board, we are focusing even more strongly on innovation and technology topics."

Previously, Peter Hofmann was Senior Vice President for Research, Development and Digitalization at Krones in Neutraubling, Bavaria. He studied aerospace engineering and computer science at the University of Stuttgart. After completing his doctorate in computer science, he began his professional career as a development engineer at Daimler-Benz in Sindelfingen. In 2003, he was appointed Honorary Professor for Mechatronic Systems in the Automobile at the Technical University in Dresden.

In 2005, Dr. Hofmann switched to automation technology. As Head of Technology at Bürkert in Ingelfingen, he was responsible for the development of control and regulation components. From 2010 to 2017, he worked for Festo in Esslingen. As Vice President, he was responsible for setting up the new Process Automation business unit. Following the successful establishment of this business unit, Dr. Hofmann was Senior Vice President Global Research and Development at Festo from 2013 to 2017.
