New Profidrive profile tester available

The PNO has announced that a new version 5 of the Profidrive profile tester is now available. The Profinet-based tool can be used to test drives for compliance with the Profidrive profile.

The tool provides various test cases for certain supported application classes. Encoders and their conformity with the encoder profile can also be tested. If a manufacturer wants to develop a drive according to the Profidrive standard or an encoder according to the encoder standard and the device is then to be certified, the manufacturer can use the profile tester to carry out all the tests required for certification in preparation. They also receive information about the current implementation level of their device.

The new profile tester offers the following features:

  • New user interface
  • Isochronous real-time operation is now supported, so that dynamic servo control and cyclic clock synchronization can now be tested.
  • Velocity and position interpolator
  • Faster acyclic data communication
  • Displayed test scripts can be filtered according to specific application classes.

The profile tester is available on the PI website for members to download free of charge.
