Siemens
Motor series in efficiency class IE4 throughout
The standard version of the Simotics SD motor series from Siemens is offered in efficiency class IE4 across the entire power range from 2.2 to 1000 kW and for pole numbers 2 and 4 as well as from 75 kW for six poles and from 55 kW for eight poles.
This means that Simotics SD in IE4 exceeds the so-called ErP Directive 2019/1781 (energy-related products) - both the first stage applicable from July 2021 and the increase in the first stage applicable from July 2023. It defines the ecodesign requirements for electric motors and speed control systems.
This European directive comes into force in two stages. From July 2021, it will require the Premium Efficiency (IE3) efficiency class for 2 to 8-pole electric motors from 0.75 kW to 1,000 kW. From July 2023, it will require the Super Premium Efficiency (IE4) efficiency class for 2 to 6-pole motors with a medium output of 75 kW to 200 kW. In accordance with the regulation, Siemens offers the Simotics SD motor series in IE4 throughout for all affected motors, but also for motors with an output of up to 1000 kW and for 8-pole motors from 55 kW, which are still exempt from the second stage from 2023.
The highly efficient motors also enable users to save energy, lower their operating costs and reduce CO2 emissions. Such motors are typically used in the process industry for pumps, fans, compressors, extruders, mixers, agitators, centrifuges, rollers or winders. This applies primarily to the water, waste water, chemical, oil & gas, cement, paper, marine and metal processing industries.
