Günter Baumüller was born in Nuremberg in 1940. In 1973, he took over his parents' company and developed it into a leading supplier of electrical automation and drive systems. Intelligent system solutions for mechanical engineering and e-mobility are developed at six production sites and over forty branches worldwide. Günter Baumüller led the company to become one of the world's leading automation partners in mechanical engineering. Today, the company employs over 1800 people. Its headquarters are in Nuremberg.

In addition to his professional activities, Günter Baumüller was also involved in voluntary work: he was a long-standing board member of the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association(ZVEI). He was also awarded the ZVEI's golden badge of honor there. He was Vice President of the Nuremberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Middle Franconia. Günter Baumüller helped to establish the mechatronics course at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, as well as the 'Mechatronics' study and diploma prize for particularly outstanding graduates. Günter Baumüller was an honorary senator at Nuremberg Institute of Technology. He was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit.

Günter Baumüller's children - Karin Baumüller-Söder and Andreas Baumüller - have been partners in the management of the group of companies for many years. Andreas Baumüller has been responsible for the entire Baumüller Group as Managing Partner and CEO since 2009. In this way, Günter Baumüller handed over overall responsibility to his son years ago and thus actively acted as an advisor on the Advisory Board. Together with his sister, Karin Baumüller-Söder, Andreas Baumüller continues the active management and further development of Baumüller.
