Generation change completed
The generational change in Wittenstein's management announced last year has been completed: CEO Prof. Dr. Dieter Spath is leaving the company to become the new Acatech President.
The future Wittenstein Executive Board will consist of Dr. Anna-Katharina Wittenstein (Spokeswoman of the Executive Board), Dr. Dirk Haft, Erik Roßmeißl and Dr. Bernd Schimpf.
Prof. Dr. Dieter Spath (64), former long-standing Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO, is returning to Stuttgart after three years as Chairman of the Wittenstein Executive Board: from 1 October 2016, he will join Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Bauer (Managing Director) in the management of the institute. In conjunction with this, Prof. Dr. Spath will once again take over the management of the cooperating Institute of Human Factors and Technology Management IAT at the University of Stuttgart.
In addition, Prof. Dr. Spath will become President of ' Acatech- Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften e.V.' alongside Prof. Dr. Henning Kagermann from February 8, 2017, replacing Prof. Dr. Reinhard F. Hüttl in office. Acatech represents the German technological sciences in Germany and abroad in a self-determined, independent and public interest-oriented manner. As a working academy, it advises politics and society on issues relating to the future of technology science and technology policy. In addition, Acatech has set itself the goal of supporting the transfer of knowledge between science and industry and promoting the next generation of technology scientists.
