Trumpf acquires stake in company for positioning systems
With effect from July 1, 2017, the machine tool manufacturer Trumpf from Ditzingen near Stuttgart has acquired 60% of the shares in the French company Bespoon. In doing so, Trumpf aims to strengthen its technology portfolio for digitally networked production.
Bespoon manufactures sensors, system components and software for position tracking processes. Its positioning system based on UWB (ultra wideband) is designed to make production processes more transparent: The position of objects in rooms and production halls can be determined with centimeter accuracy and in real time. According to Trumpf, Bespoon is one of only a few companies with this very important product field for digitalized production processes. The company from Le Bourget-du-Lac was founded in 2010 and has twelve employees. The previous shareholders were the company founders and several employees. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
Trumpf offers manufacturing solutions in the fields of machine tools and laser technology. In 2016/2017, the Group generated sales of 3.1 billion euros with around 12,000 employees (preliminary figures). It has over 70 subsidiaries worldwide. Production sites are located in Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Austria and Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, the USA, Mexico, China and Japan.
