Nivus
Non-contact flow sensor for large pipes
Nivus is expanding its 'clamp-on' sensors with a variant that works on the basis of the ultrasonic transit time difference.
Due to the measuring frequency of 500 kHz, the flow sensors from Nivus are suitable for large pipe diameters or pipe wall materials such as asbestos, cement, GRP or a multi-layer structure. The sensors work with pipes with wall thicknesses of up to 30 mm. According to the manufacturer, the new version is better at detecting higher flow velocities than the 1 MHz version, which is also available. The sensor also offers increased acoustic transmission through the fluid.
The clamp-on sensors are mounted on the pipe from the outside and measure without contact. This eliminates the need for drilling or similar mechanical stresses on the pipe, so there is also no need to interrupt the process for installation or maintenance. The IP67 degree of protection enables use even under the harshest conditions.
