The E43406 and E43410 data splitters from ifm can be used to allow the additional information generated by today's sensors to be used by PLCs.
A data splitter is simply connected between the IO-Link-capable sensor and the PLC and connected to any IO-Link master. From a control technology perspective, nothing changes as a result. The switching signals or analog values of the sensor are transmitted to the PLC as before. It is therefore not necessary to adapt the control hardware or software. The data splitter transmits the sensor's measured values in parallel to the connected IO-Link master. This makes it easy to evaluate the measured values in higher-level systems. The IO-Link masters from ifm are equipped with a JSON interface for this purpose, which enables simple connection to a database, for example. The data splitters are manufacturer-independent and can be used with any IO-Link sensors and IO-Link master modules.
