"In local currencies, we grew by 2.1% in 2016," said Chief Financial Officer Dr. Luc Schultheiss. However, consolidated turnover in euros fell to just over 2.1 billion euros. According to the preliminary business figures, the company kept costs under control. "Although the return on sales has fallen, we are still at a very good level," emphasized the Chief Financial Officer. The Group kept the number of jobs constant. At the end of 2016, Endress+Hauser had 13,003 employees worldwide, 51 more than a year ago.

Despite positive economic signals from individual markets, CEO Matthias Altendorf expects the market environment to remain challenging in 2017. Last but not least, political uncertainty has increased once again.

The audited 2016 annual report will be presented in Basel on May 9, 2017.
