Use of Docker and edge computing
'Endian 4i Edge XL' is an IoT security gateway from Endian optimized for the use of Docker and edge computing.
Compared to the previous model ('Endian 4i Edge 515'), the working memory has been increased: With 2 Gbyte, it enables complex analyses directly at the data source. The extended onboard memory of 16 Gbyte offers more capacity for data storage using edge computing. The storage capacity can also be increased via a micro SD card slot. The gateway uses an ARM processor. It is equipped with various connection options and, compared to its predecessor, has an additional USB port and two RS232/422/485 serial ports. There is also the option of a mobile connection via 4G or Wifi. All data sent via the gateway is VPN-encrypted and a firewall protects the connected infrastructure from attacks from the network. Deep packet inspection analyzes the data packets sent, and an intrusion detection system detects anomalies in the data traffic.
