Hanover Fair 2016
The new products from Pilz
Pilz hosted its annual press conference on April 6: In addition to the figures for the past financial year 2015, the provider of safe automation solutions from Ostfildern also announced the first information on the Hannover Messe innovations.
Pilz was able to increase its turnover by around 11% last year. Around 74 % of the total of 288 million euros was generated in Europe, 15 % in Asia and just under 10 % in America. Looking at the business by product group, the control technology sector, including drive technology, is still the most important sales driver in absolute terms with a share of 65%. In addition, however, the areas of sensor technology (14%) and services (12%) each make a double-digit contribution to sales.
Last year, the company recorded its strongest growth (+20 %) in Asia, particularly in Korea, Japan and China. With the aim of making even greater use of the opportunities available in these regions in future, Pilz will be opening the new subsidiary "Pilz Southeast Asia" in Singapore in the next few weeks. Instead of using trading partners as before, customers in the ASEAN region will be served from here by Pilz's own sales and service organization.
The opening of the first production facility outside Europe in Jintan has also created another important prerequisite for future growth, especially in China. Although the company in Ostfildern had to acknowledge that the high growth rates of previous years in the 'Middle Kingdom' are over for the time being, Renate Pilz is nevertheless very satisfied with the current growth in this region and emphasizes: "With the desired move away from the image of the low-cost supplier, the demand for automation solutions is also increasing in China and the aspects of safety for people, machines and the environment are becoming more important.
Double-digit growth is also Pilz's goal for the 2016 financial year. In order to be prepared for this in terms of personnel, the company intends to hire around 260 new employees worldwide this year - an increase of 13% compared to the number of employees at the end of 2015 (2,030).
