Industrial firewall to protect critical infrastructures

SNi20 is the name of the industrial firewall from Stormshield. It is used to protect industrial infrastructures and operating environments.

Stormshield is expanding its portfolio with the SNi20 industrial firewall for securing OT environments that do not require any changes to the existing infrastructure. This complements the SNi40 solution offered since 2016 and, with a housing that complies with the IEC 61850-3 standard, is aimed in particular at the electricity and water supply sector.

The industrial firewall is aimed at companies that use complete industrial systems with unchangeable network addressing. The device is positioned at the front end of the industrial system so that it can be integrated into the overall information system without changing the network configuration. This ensures both connection transparency and security for new and existing industrial systems. This allows users to avoid the time and expense of recertifying their systems.

Like all other products in the Network Security range, the SNi20 guarantees the compliance and integrity of industrial communications based on a protocol analysis approach, enabling the firewall to block attacks targeting PLCs and command and control systems. In addition, the SNi20 offers a hardware bypass function to avoid production interruptions in the event of a firewall malfunction. It also supports the implementation of a secure maintenance system for remote devices and PLCs via SSL or IPsec VPN.
