Hima / Deuta

Inka Krischke,

Dynamic alarm display and secure input processes

Hima, provider of safety-related automation solutions, and Deuta, provider of certified display and safety technology, are jointly launching a solution that includes Hima safety systems and function block libraries as well as a safety-related human-machine interface (HMI) panel based on 'IconTrust' technology.

The SafeHMI was announced by Dr. Rudolf Ganz, CEO of the Deuta Group and Deuta-Werke and Jörg de la Motte, CEO of the Hima Group (from left to right) © Hima Group

The solution offers context-sensitive alarm guidance, safe operation and display monitoring in accordance with SIL 3 (IEC 61508) and is consistently designed to meet the requirements of functional safety. The core of the system is the dynamic alarm display, which relieves operators in fault situations. Relevant alarms are automatically prioritized, provided with concise instructions for action and limited to a maximum of four simultaneous entries. Inputs, acknowledgements or safe overrides can be made directly via the touch panel - tested, documented and validated in accordance with SIL 2/3. This means that maintenance functions or recipe changes can be carried out digitally and documented in an auditable manner. The IconTrust technology developed by Deuta continuously monitors the screen content and reliably detects deviations between the displayed and expected values. This turns the display itself into an active safety element that is certified up to SIL 3. The SafeHMI solution is fully integrated into the Hima Safety platform.
