Rockwell Automation
Additional certificates for more cybersecurity
Thanks to the networking of production and IT systems in manufacturing companies, they have to deal with cyber threats that attack industrial control systems. Rockwell Automation helps with extended cybersecurity certificates.
Rockwell Automation has recently received certification to the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) 62443-3-3 cyber security standard. The certification, conducted by TÜV Rheinland, means that the company has demonstrated its ability to install and configure production systems to meet the Level 1 security requirements defined in the world's leading standard.
Rockwell Automation offers reference architectures to support customers during installation. One example of such a certified production system is 'PlantPAx 5.0', a Distributed Control System (DCS) for plant-wide process control. The architectures support customers in the certification of production systems and at the same time minimize the need to purchase new technologies as part of the process.
Rockwell Automation has also received certification for the ISO 27001 standard. It confirms that the company operates an information security and data protection system that meets the requirements of the ISO standard. This gives customers the assurance that Rockwell Automation uses best practices to protect intellectual property. This is particularly important when customers use services such as remote maintenance and monitoring.
In addition to the new certificates, the company is launching new products with CIP security, i.e. cybersecurity network extensions for Ethernet/IP. These support companies in securing their communication. To protect devices that do not support CIP security, Rockwell Automation is introducing the 'CIP Security Proxy Device': In a physically secured location, it provides CIP security for a variety of industrial control devices, securing industrial networks.
