Successful use of service robot modules in intralogistics
In applications for material transportation with an automated guided vehicle (AGV), many trades have to come together.
The combination of AGVs and service robotics poses further challenges for the team of logistics experts, production engineers, system integrators, electrical designers, manufacturers and operators: Additional sub-functions such as controls, sensors, actuators and software modules must be integrated. The necessary flexibility and cost-effectiveness can only be achieved if this interaction is successful. Safety and therefore availability play a special and often decisive role in the success of the system. A practical case study shows how robotics can be used successfully in intralogistics as part of a service team: From planning, the selection of individual components, engineering, safe commissioning through to CE marking.

About Dr. Manuel Schön
Dr. Manuel Schön studied technology management at the University of Stuttgart. After graduating, he worked as a project manager and research assistant at the Institute for Machine Tools (IfW) at the University of Stuttgart, where he completed his doctorate. He then gained experience in the system integration of lightweight robots for small and medium-sized companies as a project manager at Keusch.
Since the beginning of 2019, he has been working in product management at Pilz, where he is responsible for the Service Robotic Module.
