Integrating cobots more easily into complex systems
In future, UR's cobots will be easier to integrate into complex systems and production lines: The company is working on integrating them into the TIA Portal from Siemens. This will make it easier to include them in the condition monitoring of systems, among other things.
The TIA Portal engineering framework supports users in planning comprehensive production automation projects. In November 2020, Siemens presented an extension to this application in the form of the Simatic Robot Library: The universal 'Robot Library' allows users to program robots directly in the TIA Portal via a standardized user interface and include them in their planning. In future, robots from Universal Robots can also be controlled in this way. Thanks to the intuitive design of the portal, users can independently integrate the cobots into larger production lines and teach them using functions such as jog mode or path creation. The universal library also allows them to download program examples and use them to control the UR robots. This also makes it easier to combine the robots with technologies such as edge data analysis or cloud services and incorporate them into the system's condition monitoring. The corresponding interpreter is scheduled for completion in Q4 2021.
