International Federation of Robotics (IFR)New sales record for industrial robots
The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) has announced the sales figures for 2015. According to the figures, the number of industrial robots sold worldwide last year reached the mark of around 240,000 units for the first time.
Olaf C. Gehrels, CEO of Fanuc Europe Corporation: "The global robot market is developing at a rapid pace. On this path, two technological milestones are of outstanding importance for Fanuc: On the one hand, collaborative robots based on standard robots are equipped with sophisticated controllers that have proven themselves in routine tasks in industrial applications.In addition, there are heavy-duty robots that can handle workpieces weighing up to 2,300 kg and thus enable the implementation of completely newly developed manufacturing processes."
