International Federation of Robotics (IFR)New sales record for industrial robots
The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) has announced the sales figures for 2015. According to the figures, the number of industrial robots sold worldwide last year reached the mark of around 240,000 units for the first time.
Stefan Lampa CEO of Kuka Roboter: "In the age of Industry 4.0, the automotive industry is playing a leading role in realizing direct human-machine collaboration with the latest robot technology. In addition, the demand for automation is increasing in new market areas in which these solutions have previously played a lesser role. The electronics sector is a particularly important market for us here. Development times in this sector are accelerating, the number of new products is increasing and life cycles are shortening."
