RoboticsKuka honors young researchers
The Augsburg-based robot manufacturer Kuka has presented its fourth 'Kuka Innovation Award' at the Hannover Messe. The prize, worth 20,000 euros, honors outstanding innovations in the field of modern mechatronics.

Advanced Robotic Finishing: The project group from the University of Southern California consists of students and employees from the Center for Advanced Manufacturing. In their project, they dealt with the automation of finishing processes such as polishing, sanding and deburring. The system accepts instructions from humans and generates plans on how geometrically complex parts made of different materials can be processed more cost-effectively. Automatic algorithms for workpiece recognition and path planning are intended to make the processing of small batch sizes more economical.
