Igus announces 'ROIBOT Award

The 'ROIBOT Award', which Igus is presenting for the first time, is intended to recognize clever applications with a quick return on investment based on cost-effective robot technology from the Cologne-based company. Interested parties can register for the competition until March 2020.

Robots have become an integral part of industry. Low-cost solutions in particular are increasingly proving to be the tool of choice for small and medium-sized companies. Robots can easily take over simple tasks that do not require high precision and work 24/7. Employees can therefore be deployed for more meaningful tasks.

Picking up on this trend, competitors around the world are looking for existing low-cost robotics applications that have led to a rapid return on investment (ROI). Robolink articulated arm robots, Drylin Delta robots and Cartesian robots - so-called gantries - from Igus can be used. An expert jury consisting of researchers, the trade press and manufacturers will evaluate the concepts. The winner will receive prize money of 5,000 euros, second place will be awarded 2,500 euros and third place 1,000 euros. The award ceremony will take place at Automatica 2020 in Munich. Interested participants can register for the competition online.

Every two years, Igus presents another award - the 'Vector Award', which recognizes outstanding applications with energy chain systems:
