Tinker Kit Braccio
Arduino controls robot arm
With the 'TinkerKit Braccio', RS Components is adding an Arduino-controlled robotic arm to its product range that offers makers, developers and professionals an introduction to the possibilities of robotics.
The Braccio is a robotic arm designed for desktop use and is controlled via an Arduino board. The user can assemble the Braccio offered by RS Components in several variants, depending on how it best suits their own requirements. The arm has six servomotors for position control. This enables it to pick up and move objects. The product can be used together with a variety of other objects. This allows a wide variety of applications to be realized. For example, the kit can be used as an automated tracking camera to follow movements. Together with a solar panel, the position of the sun can be tracked. With the help of a mounted cell phone or tablet, the robotic arm can follow the participants in a video conference. The Braccio offers a load capacity of up to 400 g in the minimum configuration with a maximum weight of 150 g and a swivel arm reach of 32 cm.
It is suitable for test set-ups and prototypes in science and industry. No breadboards or soldering irons are required for commissioning. The kit also includes the servo shield to connect the robot's sensors and actuators to an Arduino board. The Arduino board itself is not included. The robot arm is compatible with numerous Arduinos such as Uno, Uno SMD, Uno WiFi, Due, Mega 2560, Ethernet, Leonardo, Leonardo ETH, M0, M0 Pro, yun and Tian. In addition, the Braccio can be controlled via a PC or smartphone by using an Arduino Uno WiFi, Leonardo Ethernet, yun or Tian.
