Training and Exhibition Center for AMR opened
ABB Robotics has opened a training and exhibition center in Madrid dedicated to its autonomous mobile robot (AMR) product line. The center houses training facilities and exhibition areas to introduce this technology to customers, partners and employees.
"With their advanced capabilities enabled by AI and 3D vision technology, AMRs are revolutionizing logistics and manufacturing. They boost efficiency, increase flexibility and improve safety. As the demand for AMR continues to grow, more qualified specialists are also needed to program, operate and maintain them," emphasizes Marc Segura, Head of ABB Robotics. "This is exactly where ABB's AMR center comes in: In-depth training enables companies to qualify their employees to work with our AMRs and software."
AMRs are becoming increasingly important for the autonomous transport of loads and the optimization of work processes. According to the latest statistics from the International Federation of Robotics (IFR ), around 113,000 units were sold worldwide in 2023 - an increase of 35% compared to 2022. Demand is being driven by sectors such as logistics, the automotive industry and the consumer goods industry. Technological advances and the development towards automated production lines are expected to drive growth further. Analysts forecast an average annual growth rate of 17.5% between 2023 and 2028.
The AMR Center's state-of-the-art training and exhibition facilities enable companies to explore the potential of AMR and empower their employees to deploy, operate and maintain them in logistics and intralogistics applications. The center's training programs aim to enable faster commissioning, reduce downtime and maximize customers' return on investment. The training content - from preventive and corrective maintenance to software upgrades and fault diagnosis - is aimed at a wide audience, including maintenance technicians, automation engineers and operations managers. They are also available to ABB employees so that they can keep up to date with the latest technologies and safety procedures.
In addition to the training sessions, visitors to the exhibition areas will get an impression of the versatility of ABB's AMR portfolio. They can see AMR models such as Flexley Tug, Flexley Mover and Flexley Stack in action, as well as solutions using Visual SLAM 3D navigation technology and AMR Studio software. These innovations enable robots to navigate autonomously in dynamic environments. Companies can also use them to design and test robotic solutions virtually, which significantly speeds up on-site implementation.
