The "smart everyday life"

"Connected - Safe - Convenient" is the guiding theme of Light+Building 2018, and the trade fair for lighting and building technology will kick off in Frankfurt from March 18 to 23 with new focal themes, a new special show and an additional hall level.

The Messe Frankfurt exhibition grounds offer ample space for the exhibition, forums, special show and supporting program of the world's leading trade fair Light+Building.

The focus of the trade fair is on the topics of "Smartification of everyday life" and "Aesthetics and well-being in harmony". At the world's largest trade fair for lighting and building technology, the industry will showcase intelligent and networked solutions, pioneering technologies and the latest design trends, which are intended to increase both the economic efficiency of a building and the comfort and safety needs of its users.

In line with the highly dynamic nature of the industry , the prospects for Light+Building 2018 could hardly be better: All the market leaders have registered and around 2600 exhibitors are expected to present their innovations for lighting, electrical engineering and home and building automation. The range of exhibits includes designer luminaires in all styles, technical luminaires and lamps in different variations and for all applications, as well as a large selection of lighting components and accessories and outdoor and street lighting - to be found in halls one (Trendspot Design) to six and ten as well as in the Forum.

Focal points in the "Light" product area - in which around 1650 companies will be exhibiting - include the latest design trends in the lighting market, the digitalization of light and the increasingly important topic of Human Centric Lighting (HCL), which focuses on the effect of light on people and the impact of light on their health, performance and well-being.

Similar to HCL, digitalization is also paving the way for the efficient light management of street lighting and also offers the prerequisites for additional services - for example charging stations for e-mobility, Wi-Fi infrastructure, sensor technology for monitoring, loudspeakers for SOS messages or emergency buttons. Enhanced with such additional functions, street lighting offers interesting smart city lighting concepts and thus contributes to the realization of smart cities.

Focus on safety technology

The integration of various security systems such as video surveillance or access control, their networking and integration into technical building automation are key aspects that are likely to interest both the industry and users. The organizers are taking this into account by bundling the product areas of home and building automation and power-operated security technology in Hall 9.1 for the first time. This will create a kind of center for integrated building technology, offering visitors an all-round overview of the entire spectrum of home and building automation and electrical security technology.

Special show 'SECURE! Connected Security in Buildings'

The new hall level 9.1 will be enriched by the special show "Secure! Connected Security in Buildings". In the three areas of hotel, office and industry, exhibitors will present their solutions for electrical security in a real environment and in active scenarios (fire, storm, burglary). The various security technology disciplines are networked across products and systems. Further on in Hall 9.1, the exhibitors' stands offer visitors the opportunity to find out about individual products and solutions in detail.

The Intersec Forum (March 19 to 22) will also take place in the immediate vicinity of the special show. This year's annual conference for networked security technology will feature presentations from Germany and abroad on the topics of fire alarm technology and fire protection, access control and surveillance technology, IT and cyber security, as well as two industry dialogs for planners and installers, operators, facility managers and manufacturers.

Versatile supporting program

In addition to the exhibitors' wide range of products, Light+Building once again impresses with a varied supporting program. For all trade visitors such as architects, engineers, planners, interior designers, designers, tradespeople, retailers and industry, there are theme-specific offers - from special shows and specialist lectures to trend presentations.
