According to Siko , by communicating with the higher-level machine control system, the position indicator ensures that product changes and format adjustments are carried out safely and ergonomically. Set values, actual position values and the positioning status are exchanged and the manual spindle setting is transferred to a monitored process. In addition to the serial interfaces, the position indicator has an IO-Link interface, which enables fast integration via a point-to-point connection using the simplest I/O connection technology.

Several position indicators can be modularly networked via IO-Link master islands. A key element of the display is the inverted backlit LC display. The backlighting ensures that the position values are easy to read even in poorly visible places or in low ambient light. The LCD is designed as a two-line, five-digit 7-segment display.
