The iLCD panels from demmel products with intelligent displays programmable in Java offer features such as an on-board Java Virtual Machine (Java VM), capacitive modules for vandal-proof designs and the intuitive "iLCD Manager XE" development environment. All functionalities can be implemented on the panels in Java as well as with the previously known commands. This enables "display computing" with an object-oriented high-level language without an operating system. In addition to HMI sequence control, Java can also be used to implement computing operations and control the entire hardware via the "iLCD". The latter simplifies the device design by eliminating the need for an external controller. The "iLCD Manager XE" contains a complete Java development environment, which enables editing of the Java code, compilation and remote debugging. The compiled Java application is loaded and executed directly on the display via the USB interface. Remote debugging of the generated Java application is also carried out directly on the connected display via the same USB interface. Features such as breakpoints and variable inspection are included in the debugger. No additional hardware or software is required.
