HMI in the assembly line modernized
Swedish packaging manufacturer Kinnareds Well has modernized its human-machine interfaces in the assembly line with Rockwell Automation partner Hax Technologies. The aim was to improve productivity and user-friendliness.
Together with the Swedish OEM Hax Technologies, Rockwell Automation has modernized the human-machine interfaces in the assembly line of Kinnareds Well, a Swedish manufacturer of sustainable corrugated paper and cardboard packaging. The aim was to increase reliability, user-friendliness and versatility with the new HMIs.
The Allen-Bradley OptixPanel Standard Graphic Terminal from Rockwell Automation was chosen as it integrates seamlessly with the current FactoryTalk software. The displays offer high-resolution graphics and an intuitively configurable interface. The technicians were able to quickly connect and configure the graphic terminal, allowing the assembly line to be up and running in a short time.
The graphics terminal's secure remote access capabilities allow Hax Technologies engineers to perform much of the configuration remotely and provide remote support afterwards as part of a service contract. Kinnareds Well also utilized the panel's integrated web server, allowing employees to access the HMI from other locations without having to purchase additional panels.
"The combination of the OptixPanel standard graphic terminal being easy to configure, coupled with its versatility and advanced remote access capabilities, means that as well as being easy to configure, it also gets the best possible performance out of the assembly line," said Peter Nilsson, automation manager at Hax Technologies and team leader of the Kinnareds Well upgrade project.
"We are very pleased with the upgrade," said Peter Syrén, CEO of Kinnareds Well. "The combination of the user-friendly interface and advanced remote access features has helped to improve ease of use and maximize productivity."
"Intelligent visualization solutions are an important technology that can help empower employees," added Asa Arvidsson, Regional Vice President Sales for the Northern Region at Rockwell Automation, based in Sweden. "We are proud to be able to support this project with Kinnareds Well."
