According to the jury, the nominated 'KlettWelding Tape' solution from NanoWired is a globally unique process that allows specially treated electronic components to be joined quickly, precisely and in an environmentally friendly manner at room temperature. 'KlettWelding' is based on nanowires that are applied to any surface like a metallic lawn (see image). By simply pressing the parts prepared in this way together, the wires hook together like Velcro - with the difference that the connection is permanently stable and extremely electrically and thermally conductive. 'KlettWelding' is more cost-effective than conventional processes such as soldering, gluing and bonding and can be used in the sensor, semiconductor, automotive and consumer goods sectors, among others. Especially for temperature-free connections, production processes can be switched from soldering to plugging, thus saving on plant equipment and reducing production costs.
